A Super Rare Display of Northern Lights Is Happening Tonight In 18 States—Here’s How to See Them

If you are in North America with a clear evening sky over the next several days, do not miss the opportunity to see – you can catch the most spectacular light show on Earth.

The NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center has released a G3 (strong) geomagnetic store watch for Tuesday night, and set up a platform for Aurorus to dazzle in 18 states. The potential light show comes courtesy of two powerful CME (coronal mass ejections) which were taken out by the Sun on 13 April and are ready to crash in the Earth’s magnetic field in the next 24-48 hours.

“These #Solarsstorms will probably travel slowly, but they are dense and can pack a decent punch thus!” Space season physicist Tamita Skov wrote in a post on X on 13 April. “The model is still waiting for the corongraph data to inform the run, but the impact may be in late April or early 16 April.”

18 states in North America can be treated for the stunning brightness of Aurora this evening, with a major view in Alaska, North Eastern Montana, Northern Northern Dakota and North Minnesota.

States such as Illinois, New York, New Hampshire, Warmont and Main have a slimmer in the south, but still there is a decent opportunity to spot the shining lights on the horizon. It is difficult to predict the accurate access to these storms, so it is worth looking at the sky regardless of it.
