Business Travel Was Recovering Post-Covid. It Could Take Another Hit This Year

The road ahead for business travel may be bumpy.

According to a new report, recent American policy changes have contributed to an uncertain approach to trade travel, including rapid growing trade policy and boundary enforcement. In the poll results announced on Wednesday, the Global Business Travel Association said that many industries professionals are expected to give up the amount of trade journey this year.

According to GBTA, more than one-third of the global travel manager-who oversees his company’s travel purchase-In 2025 it will decline significantly in volume, while less than half of the global buyers hope that his organizations’ business travel expenses and volume are expected to end.

These conclusions come as travel-industry firms, rethinking their views for the year. The United Airlines (UAL) offered double-barel guidance late last night, including a recession landscape, while Delta Air Lines (DAL) withdrew its entire year’s forecast earlier this month.

Earlier this year, nearly half -travel buyers, who responded to another GBTA survey, said they expected their companies to travel more in 2025, and this year about 60% of estimated travel expenses had increased. Hotel operator Marriott (Mar) said earlier this year that the trade journey had worked back at pre-political levels.

According to the new GBTA pole, about 30% of buyers are now predicting a 20% decrease in their business travel expenses this year.

GBTA CEO Suzanne Nepheng said in a statement, “Producer and essential business travel is threatened in an environment of economic uncertainty or in environment of additional obstacles and restrictions.”
