U.S. Airlines May Be Charging Passengers More for Solo Tickets

While traveling alone, there can be seductive and comfort, new data shows that it can also be more expensive.

According to a new report by the booking site Thrifty Traveler, the US Airlines is allegedly renting single travelers higher than couples or families. The travel data team recently compared two or more tickets to versus the price of single-ticket purchase. In many examples, the purchase of single-ticket per passenger was more expensive.

In one example, the report shows how General Wayne a from O’Ahre International Airport (Ord) of Chicago. A United Airlines flight from Downing Pieria International Airport (PIA) costs $ 269 for one-way ticket for a person traveling alone. But when the same route was booked for two people, the price declined, it rose to $ 181 per person. The team also said that a single fare on an American airlines flight priced $ 422, when several tickets were booked, fell to $ 266 per person.

“There is another way for the airlines to continue ‘section’ for the airlines,” said Kyle Potter, executive editor of Thrifty Traveling Traveler.

The report also states that the incident does not appear as a comprehensive event, and a limited time can be tested, or can only appear on select routes.

After the report was released, dozens of flyers and enthusiasts of aviation confirmed the conclusions independently.

Jeff Rosen, a consumer correspondent and host of The Rosen reports, shared his experience of watching high fare for single tickets on social media.

He also said that booking websites may use other clues for some customers to generate high fare and prices potentially.

“Airlines can track your discovery history and implement various prices based on it,” Rosen said. “So, clean your cash and cookies before logging into the airline. Better yet, find in secret mode to avoid target price growth.”

At the time of publication, neither American Airlines nor United Airlines provided a comment to T+L. Meanwhile, if you are traveling alone, experts recommend installing price alerts to save some cash. Alternatively, you can consider flying in other nearby (often small) air areas that can be less expensive.
