President Donald Trump has banned citizens of 12 countries from entering the US under a new announcement signed on Wednesday, June 4.
Travel ban will cover Afghanistan, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Irritriya, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Myanmar, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
Another seven countries – Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela – are subject to the underlike restrictions.
Trump states that the list is subject to the ongoing amendments, and if the “material improved” was done, the countries can be removed, and if “threats come out worldwide.”
The order was announced through the official social media channels of the White House. President Trump said, “We cannot have an open migration from any country, where we cannot safely and firmly and screen.” “This is why today I am signing a new executive order with travel restrictions on countries including Yemen, Somalia, Haiti, Libya and many others.”
According to the White House, new travel restrictions apply on June 9 at 12:01 pm.
Why now?
The White House says that a ban is being imposed to protect Americans from “dangerous foreign actors”. Trump, in support of Israeli’s hostages, cited a recent attack in Colorado during March 1, saying it outlined the dangers of foreign nationals, which were “not properly.”
Accused of executing the attack, who injures 12 people, is from Egypt, a country which is not in the list.
This is not the first time Trump has announced the travel ban. During his first term in 2017, he presented a similar order banning travel from specific nations.
Which countries are affected?
Citizens of the following 12 countries have been banned from entering America under Trump’s new order:
- Afghanistan
- Myanmar
- Papers
- Republic of Congo
- Equatorial guinea
- Irritriya
- Hati
- Iran
- Libia
- Somalia
- Sudan
- Yemen
Citizens of the following seven countries will have to face partial travel ban:

- Turkmenistan
- Venezuela
Is there any discount?
There are some circumstances in which citizens of restricted list countries will be given admission in the US. The ban will not affect people under the following circumstances:
- Those who have dual citizenship with another country are not involved in the travel ban
- Afghan citizens who have special immigrant visas
- America’s “legitimate permanent resident”
- People having “immigrant visas” for ethnic and religious minorities facing harassment in Iran
- Athletes traveling by major programs including 2026 World Cup or 2028 Olympics
