What Travelers Should Know About the Washington, D.C.-area Flight Disruptions on June 14

Passengers want to closely watch their airline journey programs with the East Coast in the coming weeks, as a major airport is planning to ban flights later this month.

On June 14, the officials will ban the airspace at the Ronald Regan Washington National Airport (DCA) due to a special military parade in the country’s capital. The ground traffic in Washington, DC is also expected to be affected due to road closure and military flight roads.

A representative of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport shared on its website said, “To accommodate the aircraft flyover with a parade route, after the performance of fireworks, Federal Aviation Administration is expected to suspend airline operations in DCA, which affects scheduled flights,”

Even if Washington, DC, is not the final destination of a passenger, airline passengers should keep in mind that connections may also be interrupted at Reagan Airport due to flight restrictions. A senior government official allegedly told NBC News that ground stop 116 flights are expected to affect.

Reagan Airport encourages passengers to reach their individual airlines and build housing to re -book if they are flying at the airport on the evening of 14 June. For people traveling by car, the airport provides guidance to use public transport if they need to go to the airport between the road closure.

“Sometimes there may be some disruption in the airspace,” DC Mayor Murial Boseer said in a statement. “We don’t know when it is, but it can affect, for a short time, air travel.”
